Australian courses are worth 10 credit points which corresponds to 4 credits in the U.S.
-
Undergraduate course levels range from 1000 - 6000.
Australians are a bit ahead in schooling therefore, a 1000-level course is comparable to a sophomore-level course in the US.
-
Most classes have a combination of lectures paired with either a tutorial, workshop, or seminar depending on the course subject.
Lectures are usually 50 minutes and are hosted online.
Tutorials, workshops, and seminar components are in-person and involve classroom discussions, skill labs, and group work.
Australian Universities follow a flipped classroom model, meaning students complete modules in Canvas and watch lectures for homework instead of during class time.
-
Unlike the U.S. where students complete multiple assignments, Australian Universities rely on three major assignments to determine 100% of your grade.
Major assignments could be papers, group presentations, participation, and or exams.
Be sure to read the course syllabus for specific details on these assignments.
Students will receive a grade based on the Australian grading scale. The highest Mark a student can receive is HD - High Distinction which is equivalent to an A+/A.
Saint Anselm students note: grades will appear on your final transcript with the corresponding US letter grade!
